Happy holidays from all of us here at Blue Oak Property Management! We'd like to take a moment and provide you with a few reminders if you plan on leaving your home. Unfortunately there are quite a few break-ins in Chico during this time so please take extra precaution when you leave.
- Double check that all windows and doors are locked.
- Leave a light on somewhere or buy a few inexpensive light timers to turn your lights on and off to make it appear as if someone is home.
- Have a friend that is in town drive by and check on your house periodically.
- Before you leave, look under all sinks and check the ceilings to make sure there are no water leaks and contact us immediately if you see something.
We highly recommend having a renter's insurance policy in place in case something happens. The cost per month is generally under $15. Call you insurance agent for details and to add a policy. If you do not have an insurance agent we recommend Tim Weatherson at State Farm, he can be reached at (530) 527-2878. Not only will a policy cover your personal belongings but will also cover up to $100,000 of liability.
Our office will be closed December 24th and December 25th. If you have a maintenance emergency during this time please call our maintenance emergency phone line at (530) 636-2656. Please make sure you call this line for emergencies only.
Maintenance emergencies are defined as follows: Anything relating to the property under the lease that is threatening to life, health, or the property.
Maintenance emergency examples:
Fire, tree blown on the roof, flood, sewage back up, gas odors, broken water pipes, furnace out (if the weather is below 45 degrees). If the emergency is life-threatening, call 911 immediately!
The following are not emergencies:
Water heater out, locking yourself out of the house, power or gas off, oven not working.
